About Us.

Cooking With Character

This club combines both social justice and our love of food; particularly, our love of making it! We are a club that is geared towards creating food for charities and/or communities experiencing homelessness. We will petition for supplies, make food for those in need, and take time out of our day to raise awareness!

Co-Founder of the Club

"When creating the club with my campaign Dennise, we wanted to do something that interested us and helped our community. That's where Cooking with Character comes into the picture- we cook and serve those in need. I can see this club becoming known from our community. It is something that I will always remember and a story I can't wait to tell to my kids and grandkids. "

Kaitlyn Aldaz

Co-Founder of the Club

"When Kaitlyn and I were freshman, we wanted to create meaningful high school careers for ourselves, we wanted to find ways to show care and leadership in our community. What better way to show that we care for our community than serving the most vulnerable people, those who are homeless and hungry. I am proud of each and every club member's dedication to be men and women for those less fortunate than us. I am also very proud of everything Cooking with Character has accomplished to this day."

Club Supervisor

"Being a part of Cristo Rey means being a woman and man for others. When Kailtyn and Dennise approached me about a club idea to help the homeless, I was intrigued by the concept. When they told me that they wanted to cook, prepare, and serve meals to this underserved community, I was hooked. It is a beautiful way to merge a love of mine (cooking) with service, and I wouldn't have thought of doing this had it not been for these two student leaders. They have been instrumental in the club's growth, growing its membership, winning Club of the Year at our school, and serving over 100+ healthy, home cooked meals to those who need it. We've been featured on television and are currently expanding our efforts to bring in outside groups to collaborate with our community. Our students are dedicated to serving those who have less, and I couldn't be prouder to be a part of such a dedicated, selfless organization."
